An analysis of the scientific and pedagogical activities of Vasily Fyodorovich Chervakov was performed. For 23 years (1939—1962) V.F. Chervakov headed the department of forensic medicine of I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Institute. Under his leadership a number of research studies were carried out on forensic medical aspects of ballistics, traumatology, the examination of living people, sudden death, deontology and the history of forensic medicine in the USSR and abroad. The scientist was actively engaged in expert practice and participated in the development of the procedural basis of forensic medical examination. V.F. Chervakov successfully modernized the system of forensic medical education. He is known as a talented organizer of the forensic medical service in the RSFSR and Belarus. V.F. Chervakov is the author of the first Russian monograph «Forensic Ballistics» (1937), as well as three more monographs and over 100 scientific works. He prepared 5 doctors and 30 candidates of medical sciences.
