Tooth fluorosis is an endemic disease that develops as a consequence of fluorine intoxication in the case of excessive consumption of drinking water containing an elevated fluorine concentration. The patients presenting with this condition are dissatisfied with their tooth colour regarding it as unacceptable for aesthetic considerations. Until recently, the teeth affected by fluorosis were used to be covered with veneers and crowns. In our opinion, the method of enamel microabrasion is more suitable for the purpose. Material and methods. This paper reports a clinical case of the treatment of a patient presenting with the chalky-mottled form of fluorosis. The 18 year old patient K. underwent isolation of the working field by the application of liquid cofferdam followed by microabrasion as described by N.I. Krikheli (2008). Results. This study has demonstrated the potential of the microabrasion technique for the treatment of the chalky-mottled form of fluorosis. It has shown that the application of this method makes it possible to efficiently correct the colour of fluorosis-affected teeth; therefore, it can be recommended for the application in the routine clinical practice.
