It is widely known that the prophylactic effectiveness of a hermetic depends in the first place on the reliability and the durability of its adhesion to the tooth; in other words, it is highly dependent on the ability of the hermetic to retain on the tooth surface. Materials and methods: The objective of the study was to evaluate the bonding strength of the “FisSeal” and “FisSeal-S” adhesive systems designed for the hermetic sealing of the fissures to human tooth enamel with the help of an INSTRON testing machine making use of the special device for the shearing test. It was shown that the bonding strength of the materials of interest depends on their hardening time and the thickness of the coating layered over the tooth surface. The results of the study illustrate the potential advantages of the studied polymeric materials for the hermetic sealing of the masticatory surfaces of the teeth performed to prevent caries.
