Introduction. Mucocele of the nasal septum is a rare pathology, only a few such cases are described in the literature. Proceeding asymptomatically throughout life and only over time reaching gigantic proportions, pathology can cause serious consequences. Aim of study — Description of clinical observation of a patient with mucocele. Materials and methods. A 63-year-old patient complained of difficulty in nasal breathing, drainage of mucus along the back of the pharynx, and a decrease in smell. The examination included: CT and MRI of the nose, cytological examination. Results. According to CT and MRI, in the upper sections of the nasal septum, a rounded volumetric formation with a uniform increased signal in all modes, smooth and clear contours, without signs of intracranial distribution, deforming the ethmoid bone cells, as well as the upper and middle nasal concha was visualized. A preliminary diagnosis is made: mucocele of the nasal septum. A cytological examination of punctate revealed squamous flakes, neutrophilic white blood cells, salt crystals. Conclusion. The described clinical case demonstrates difficulties in conducting differential diagnosis, making a competent diagnosis and choosing the most optimal surgical treatment technique.
