The Nasal Obstruction and Septoplasty Effectiveness (NOSE) Scale was used to survey 182 patients who had undergone rhinoplasty in different clinics of the Russian Federation in different periods of time (from 1 to 10 years). Only 110 (60.4%) out of the patients operated on were satisfied by nasal breathing and appearance. The complaints associated with nasal shape and/or function were present in 72 (39.6%) patients; out of them 22 (12.1%) patients reported obvious labored nasal breathing; 21 (11.5%) were dissatisfied by the shape of their external nose. Analysis of the results of a preliminary study in the patients who had undergone rhinoplasty shows that the subjective results do not depend on the type of surgical access. Further investigation of the long-term outcomes of rhinoplasty using objective studies is apparently needed.
