Abstract:

Examples of many foreign studies show the positive impact of municipal programs for the prevention of non-infectious diseases (NIDs) on improving the health of the local population. We selected and analyzed publications that describe the policies, programs and projects implemented in municipalities as a part of research and health campaigns aimed at reducing the prevalence of risk factors for the development of chronic diseases. The review considers public health promotion programs, including complex and multifactorial ones: 6 programs for healthy nutrition and reduction of the obesity prevalence; 2 — to lower blood pressure; 7 — to combat alcoholism and tobacco use; 5 — to increase physical activity, etc. The given examples of programs and campaigns to improve public health at the municipal / regional levels can become an additional resource for the development and implementation of preventive programs in the municipal districts of the Russian Federation.
