Abstract:

The phenomenon of coronary artery calcification has been known for more than 25 years as an integral part of atherogenesis. It is currently important to evaluate this phenomenon in patients with different types of coronary artery atherosclerosis, including subclinical atheroslerosis. Multislice computed tomography is used to calculate coronary artery calcium scores (CS). Analysis of the results of researches (as a systematic review) of the clinical and prognostic significance of determining CS in asymptomatic patients with cardiovascular risk factors has shown that CS estimation substantially increases the level of prediction of the development of cardiovascular diseases.
