Abstract:

Objective — to investigate the influence Trichomonas vaginalis on functional status of human sperm. Material and methods. The effect of chronic trichomoniasis on morphofunctional state of sperm and biochemical composition of ejaculate was examined. The standard methods of laboratory studies sperm were used. Results. Trichomonas vaginalis adversely affects spermatozoa and the process of spermatogenesis while maintaining a normal concentration, motility and morphology of spermatozoa in more than a third of cases. There is a violation of the interaction of spermatozoa with hyaluronic acid (HBA-test), which indicates an impairment of its maturation. Conclusion. When preparing for IVF, men with trichomoniasis should be recommended to conduct an HBA-test for the timely selection of ICSI as an alternative method for treating infertility.
