The paper is devoted to Professor S.S. Mikhailov’s activities at the Orenburg State Medical Institute in 1959—1963 as the Chancellor of the Institute and the Head of the Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy. It presents Professor S.S. Mikhailov’s significant contribution to the development of the Institute and the Department. The paper shows his activity as a scientist and the Head of the Department and the Founder of the Orenburg Scientific School of Clinical Anatomy and Experimental Surgery.
