Abstract:

The paper describes a clinical case of successful resection of the left main bronchial stump after previous left pneumonectomy. A 65-year-old man was operated on for left central lung cancer two years ago. Four cycles of polychemotherapy (etoposide + cisplatin) were subsequently performed. Two years after therapy completion, a local relapse was diagnosed in the left main bronchial stump. The patient was operated on via the sternal thoracotomy approach; the stump was resected after pericardotomy and reamputation of the pulmonary vessel stumps. The postoperative period was uneventful.
