Abstract:

The paper gives a clinical example of successful treatment in a patient with locally advanced hypopharyngeal cancer, who has undergone microsurgical reconstruction of the upper aerodigestive tract, by applying a free colo-iliac autotransplant, after laryngectomy with circular resection of the hypopharynx. The use of this plastic material could simultaneously recover both food-conducting and vocal functions, considerably reduce the time of rehabilitation, improve its quality, and decrease a patient’s disability.
