Abstract:

The efficacy of Octreotide long, a native somatostatin analogue, was investigated in the treatment of patients with asymptomatic castration-refractory prostate cancer (CRPC) with its progression after docetaxel chemotherapy and in those with primary hormone resistance. The drug may be used in patients with CRPC both before and after systemic cytotoxic therapy. The possibility of its use in patients with primary hormone resistance was determined. Long-acting Octreotide therapy is an effective and safe treatment: the drug causes minimal side effects and is well tolerated and easy to use in an outpatient setting.
