Currently, innovative technologies (viewing photo atlases, videos, color slides), which help to form cognitive and differentiated thinking, rapid acquirement and systematization of knowledge and skills in professional medical activity, are widely used in the educational process of medical universities in the physician training and continuing education. In addition, demonstrations of patients and moulages with various pathologies give on opportunity to visually show a comprehensive clinical pattern and different forms of diseases. This form of educational aids, such as wax models, allows, along with modern teaching methods, to visualize the variety of clinical forms of skin and sexually transmitted diseases and to conduct differential diagnosis. The tradition of reproducing clinical symptoms of disease with the use of special impression mass compound and artistic design has been established about 150 years ago. Collections, created at the turn of the XIX—XX century, continue to play an important role in education, sharing of experience and popularizing knowledge about disease prevention among population. The XII international congress of physicians in 1897 yr. was the first Russian representative meeting of specialists who appreciated the significance of volumetric and naturalistic images, imprinted in wax. Such medical collections remain relevant despite the availability of modern innovative technologies. Three-dimensional relief models continue to draw the attention of modern physicians at exhibitions of scientific medical forums and congresses.
