Abstract:

ABSTRACT Paraneoplastic dermatoses belong to skin markers of cancer and acanthosis nigricans is a classical representative of these markers. The data of Russian and international literature on the etiology and pathogenesis of malignant acanthosis nigricans (papillary and pigmentary skin dystrophy) are presented. In 60—100% of cases, acanthosis nigricans accompanies the development of cancer of the stomach, pancreas, colon, lungs, uterus, and mammary glands. The pathomorphological picture of the pathological condition is provided. Data on the differential diagnosis are presented: this condition should be differentiated from acanthosis caused by drug intake, endocrine diseases, congenital syndromes, Addison’s disease, and Darier disease. We report our own clinical observation of the case of malignant acanthosis nigricans that occurred long before the breast cancer was detected in a pregnant female. The course of treatment, outcome of gestation and the disease itself are described.
