Pseudopelade of Brocq is a rare disease with progressive hair shedding and scarring alopecia of the scalp. Pseudopelade of Brocq may develop as an independent condition or as a complication of other diseases such as discoid lupus erythematosus and lichen ruber follicularis. The article provides brief information on the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnostics, and differential diagnosis of the dermatosis. The authors report their own clinical observations of pseudopelade of Brocq as an independent disease in females aged 50 and 56 years. A complete examination of these patients excluded connective tissue disorders and detected a number of changes in the alimentary tract and the endocrine system.
