Abstract:

A case of elastosis perforans serpiginosa (Lutz-Miescher disease), a rare pathology in dermatovenereology, is reported. Unlike other types of keratosis, elastosis perforans serpiginosa is characterized by altered elastic fibers and their transepidermal elimination in addition to keratinous plugs in the follicular orifices. A number of authors reported that elastosis perforans serpiginosa can be associated with heritable connective tissue disorders and Down syndrome. Some other authors reported the development of this disease in patients with renal failure. Earlier hypothesis suggested a relationship between the Lutz-Miescher disease and hypovitaminosis A. The disease is likely to develop in adolescence.
