Abstract:

Rupture of the posterior wall of the left ventricle is an extremely rare, but often catastrophic complication in mitral valve replacement associated with various causes and characterized by high mortality. The authors present intraoperative diagnosis and correction of rupture of the posterior wall of the left ventricle after mitral valve replacement with mechanical prosthesis 25 mm. Timely diagnosis and immediate surgical intervention can provide favorable outcome even in case of such a formidable complication. This experience may be useful for cardiac surgeons in management of such patients.
