Aim. To assess the outcomes of vertical reflux correction alone as the first stage of treatment. Material and methods. The study included 247 patients who underwent phlebectomy as the first stage of surgical treatment. Clinical examination, assessment of lower leg microcirculation based on transcutaneous oxygen tension were used to evaluate the results of treatment. Results. In 30 days after surgery we found decreased diameter of lower limb at the levels of low third of thigh, upper and lower third of shin by 3.8±9 42±6 and 27±4 mm respectively (p<0.05). In 118 (47.7%) patients heaviness in the limbs was improved in 30 days after surgery. Also there was a decreased number of patients who required anesthesia due to trophic changes from 206 (83.4%) to 54 (21.8%) cases (p<0,05). Transcutaneous oxygen tension and microcirculation were improved in the whole limb. However, it was below the physiological norm at the level of shin by the end of observation. Conclusion. Phlebectomy of great saphenous vein outside the trophic disorders is safe procedure with minimal number of complications. Isolated correction of vertical reflux improves microcirculation and healing of ulcers.
