Aim. To evaluate the impact of interval hypoxic-hypoxic training on exercise tolerance in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). Material and methods. The study enrolled 46 patients with angina pectoris functional classes II—III on background of optimal medical therapy. Patients are randomized into 2 groups randomly at a ratio of 1: 1.5. Hypoxic-hypoxic training was performed in 27 patients, in 19 cases placebo-procedures were conducted. Exercise tolerance was evaluated using the exercise test with gas analysis. Results. Exercise tolerance in patients after trainings significantly increased. Peak oxygen consumption increased from 14.25 to 14.54 ml/kg/min (p=0.03) and remained significantly elevated (14.84 ml/kg/min) for the next month (p=0.036). The values f peak oxygen consumption increased on 0.29 ml/kg/min. There was significant augmentation of maximal oxygen consumption on 6.3% in group after hypoxic-hypoxic training (p=0.001). Oxygen consumption at the level of anaerobic threshold was also significantly increased on 0.87 ml/kg/min (p=0.045). There were significant changes in the control group. Conclusion. Thus, in patients with angina pectoris exercise tolerance was improved after hypoxic-hypoxic trainings due to improved oxygen transport and utilization by tissues including skeletal muscles.
