Endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy is a main current treatment for obstruction of the vertical portion of the lacrimal duct. According to different authors, recurrence rates after dacryocystorhinostomy can reach 25-30%. The main reason for ineffective dacryocystorhinostomy is granulation tissue-formed fistula atresia followed by scarring. The application of temporary synthetic drainages of various materials, silicon being more widely used, is recognized to be the most common method to prevent early postoperative stenosis. At the same time, there are drawbacks of such drainages. The aim of the study is to validate the effectiveness of endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy without long-term drainage of the lacrimal duct after restoring its patency. The findings suggest that at the final stage of endonasal endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy, it is unreasonable to insert a drainage tube into the lacrimal duct if the latter is freely patent.
