Intellectual property is an expensive asset that needs to be properly evaluated and protected. Quite often researchers diminish their ideas and developments value and do not patent the inventions, and even if they pass the procedure of patenting, in many cases the patent poorly protects the inventor rights. This article discusses some aspects of intellectual property protection, patenting orders in Russia and abroad, intellectual property licensing, and introduces some examples of intellectual property protection in the biomedical technology field.
