Abstract:

The paper gives information on the formation of the Department of Topographic Anatomy and Operative Surgery, S.I. Georgievsky Medical Academy, V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University. It traces the transformation of medical education reckoned from the Medical Faculty of the Tavria University, into the Medical Institute, then the Medical University, and finally into the S.I. Georgievsky Medical Academy that forms a part of the V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University. The main research areas of the Department of Topographic Anatomy and Operative Surgery, human resources, and achievements are denoted. The role of the Department in forming the managerial personnel of the University is highlighted.
