Objective — to study the possibility of using methods for assessing mobility and acarogram of Demodex mites in humans as criteria for the effectiveness of potential acaricidal drugs. Material and methods. The study was carried out using materials of skin of the wings of the nose scraping in 10 clinically healthy male volunteers (1st group of observation). Material was placed on a glass slide in a drop of glycerol solution, after which it was closely surrounded by the studied drugs (10% sulfuric, 5% zinc, 5% salicylic, 5% tar or 2% turpentine ointment, 1% ivermectin cream) or left intact. Death of mites was confirmed by the cessation of mobility and structural changes of the body under a light microscope. The 2nd observation group consisted of 35 men and women with clinical diagnoses of Acne, Rosacea, Seborrheic dermatitis and Perioral dermatitis, in which live, mobile Demodex mites were revealed in scrapings under a microscope at different stages of development. Patients received locally one of the mentioned drugs. Mite’s motility and acarogram were checked on the 1st, 15th and 30th days of observation. Conclusion. The study of the mobility and acarogram of Demodex mites is an effective way to assess the acaricidal effect of substances.
