Psoriasis is a chronic disease that significantly complicates the life of patients and, in rare cases, leads to disability. Of particular interest is psoriasis localized on the skin of large folds, clinically manifested as itchy plaques, and characterized by a lower degree of peeling compared to psoriasis of other localizations. Heat, moisture, and friction in the folds promote colonization of psoriatic plaques with bacteria, fungi, or pathogenic yeast, which causes eczematization with weeping and erosion. These areas are usually characterized by less epidermal keratinization. A quarter of patients with psoriasis also have psoriasis of large skin folds. Despite a small area of the affected skin, the patients’ quality of life is significantly reduced. Patients not only feel limitations in sexual relationships but often do not tell doctors about the localization of lesions, which complicates therapy. The optimal choice for treating psoriasis of large skin folds is topical nonsteroidal agents. Observation of 15 patients who used zinc oxide- and bisabolol-containing cream demonstrated the efficacy of this remedy. Itching, infiltration, and erythema reduced by day 3—7 after treatment onset; by the 14th day of therapy, psoriatic plaques resolved, leaving pigmentation. Patients noted the ease of use of the cream and its good organoleptic properties.
