Inspired by the course of science for reliable results in scientific research, Tamar Makin and Jean-Jacques Orban de Xivry have compiled a list of the most common statistical errors found in scientific publications. The reasons for errors are mainly errors in experimental design, incorrect use of statistical analysis and errors of reasoning. The ways suggested by the authors to solve these common problems will improve the reproducibility of research. According to the authors, the most suitable point for preventing publication of erroneous results is the stage of review in scientific journals or online discussion of the preprint. In their article, they want to provide reviewers with a tool to easily identify such mistakes.
