Dear colleagues! The next issue of the journal "Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine" is, as always, full of articles, both original and review ones, devoted to the most topical issues of our specialty. The article of greatest interest for practical healthcare can be considered to be the work of the group of authors headed by V.I. Ershov, presenting the results of a multicenter registry study of respiratory therapy in patients with acute stroke (RETAS). Epidemiological studies are considered to be very effective in making management decisions in all situations, and this study will hopefully become the basis for implementing new algorithms of respiratory support and oxygen therapy based on the correction of risk factors and exclusion of ineffective therapies. Traditionally for a wide range of readers the editorial board presents the next methodical recommendations on perioperative management of patients with bradyarrhythmias (I.B. Zabolotskikh et al.), recommended for inclusion in the existing algorithms and standard operating procedures of anesthesiology and intensive care departments and written from the position of selection of levels and quality of evidence. A non-standard article, which probably requires further discussion, is the article by K.V. Paromov and co-authors, devoted to the regional anesthesia in cardiac anesthesiology. The authors offer a review that summarized the arguments for and against the use of regional methods of analgesia to justify the personalized choice of these methods and taking into account the specific features of cardiac surgery and anesthesia support.
