To describe the methodology for the development of the registry of the multifaceted medical center (SOFIT) and report the first results on the assessment of demographic characteristics, the proportion of subjects with cardiovascular and chronic non-cardiac diseases, the frequency of a history of new coronavirus infection in hospitalized patients.
In total, 21.783 patients (age 57.8±16.2 years; 46.5% males) admitted to the Tula Regional Clinical Hospital from 01.01.2021 to 31.12.2021 were included in the registry of the multifaceted medical center (SOFIT). The information on electronic medical records using the Medical Information System resource was assessed. The data obtained were compared in the cardiac, therapeutic, and other departments.
Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) had 65.7% of patients included in the registry, two or more CVDs had 38.2%, and 11.7% had 3-4 CVDs. The proportion of patients with CVD and/or chronic non-cardiac conditions was 84.4%, and 12.9% with COVID-19. Hypertension (74.8%, 61.5%, and 56.9%) and ischemic heart disease (84.0%, 14.7%, and 16.8%) were the most frequently reported CVDs. In comparison, digestive diseases (32.3%, 50.1%, and 30.2%), obesity (38.4%, 22.7%, and 18.0%), and diabetes mellitus (23.6%, 16.1%, and 17.5%) were the most frequently reported chronic non-cardiac conditions. Patients with CVD were more likely to have COVID-19 (14.8 and 9.3%; p<0.0001).
Among hospitalized patients, both overall and in the analyzed departments, the majority had cardiovascular and chronic non-cardiac diseases; 12.9% had a history of COVID-19. In patients with cardiovascular diseases, chronic non-cardiac conditions and a history of COVID-19 were more common. Patients with a combination of cardiovascular diseases and chronic non-cardiac conditions, including those with a history of COVID-19, are the target group for interdisciplinary interaction in the provision of medical care in a multidisciplinary hospital, especially in departments other than cardiologic and therapeutic.
