As pediatric nose and ear surgery becomes ever more important and relevant, the time has come to consider increasing the use of simultaneous interventions. The traditional approach to the treatment of chronic middle otitis involves not only the use of a number of interventions, but also their phased implementation. In such a treatment regimen, the patient is subjected to repeated anesthesia and surgical trauma, followed, in each post-operative period, with radiation and medication therapies. The clinical cases presented here illustrate the efficacy of a combined approach, and confirm the trends that are apparent upon review of the medical literature. Combined surgical treatment in the case of combined pathologies of the middle ear and nose can be carried out simultaneously with positive results, and without re-hospitalization. Such interventions are effective from both a medical and a social point of view.
